From what I've heard on this app, the piano tone is absolutely gorgeous. However, none of the features/functions, and tweaking controls are available to Voiceover users yet. I have to rely on a pair of eyes to help me and I honestly feel that I should not have to rely on them all the time. While I have used other more accessible virtual piano apps with Voiceover, and while Ravenscroft is by no means the only music App, Ravenscroft has probably one of the best-sounding and realistic piano tones I've ever heard, and it leaves the smallest footprint. It does not hog up battery power and high power consumption. Again, I would like to advocate that this app be made accessible for the Blind, and especially to any other blind pianist out there, who really wants a ultra-realistic-sounding grand piano in an IOS product, and will not consume your battery to run the App.įYI, the Ravenscroft app is made by VI Labs. If anyone out there is willing, please send this post to the App developers. Whoever designed this app certainly did not encode it to work in conjunction with Voiceover.

I cannot access anything whatsoever in the App.

Voiceover literally just says, "Landscape.) That's it. The onscreen note sounds full-range and normal.Īny idea what that could be about? And, thanks again.I cannot access buttons, controls, settings, nor do any gestures within the app to move within it. When I play one note on the controller and then click that same note on the onscreen keyboard, there is a world of difference. The reverb, tone, stereo width, pedal noise, resonances, etc.

My other significant issue is this: When I use it as a plug-in, none of the piano controls function, and it sounds is quite dull, no crispness. So I wonder what that's all about? Anyway, that problem solved. So I instead hooked it directly to a hub with a midi-to-USB adapter. That made me wonder if UVI didn't like the Alesis by-way-of the Edirol, though that seemed unlikely. So, just now I hooked up the MicroKey and now that's showing. I had checked the UVI Midi settings, it listed PCR Port 1, PCR Port 2, PCR Port 3, etc. This has allowed me to hook up three boards with only two USB ports and not need a hub on gigs, and has always worked flawlessly. My midi routing for the last 5 years or so has been: my trusty Alesis QS8 channel 3, midi out to the midi in of my Edirol PCR on channel 2, and the USB out of that bringing both controllers to the laptop.(occasionally an additional Korg MicroKey 61 on channel 1). OK, well I wasn't sure if it was seeing it or not. When you open UVI and load Ravenscroft, make sure you go to Audio & MIDI Settings in UVI (Finder), and ensure your controller is seen and connected.
